We Slept in Body Bags, Just in Case

In this Berlin Story, Melanie Sevcenko reads from her new poetry chapbook, We Slept in Body Bags, Just in Case.

Melanie Sevcenko is a journalist, poet, and producer for Berlin Stories heard on NPR Berlin. Working in both print and radio, she has reported for Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, Global Post, Monocle, Toronto Star, USA Today, and CBC, amongst others.

Her poetry and short fiction have been published by various literary journals, including newleaf, The Fourth River, Sojourn, BlazeVOX, and Nexus.

Originally from Toronto (via Texas), she’s lived in Berlin since 2007.

Berlin Stories Originals are personal essays about the city, read aloud by the writers who wrote them.

The project was created by the novelist Anna Winger in 2009, and since then, more than 100 Originals have been broadcast on NPR Berlin and NPR Worldwide.
